Mother grieves for murdered sons
DALLAS — Five-year-old Naim never made it to his first day of school Monday. The kindergartner and his three-year-old brother, Elijah, were killed Monday morning.
Their father, Naim Muhammad, 32, was being held on $2 million bond in Dallas County Jail on two counts of capital murder.
Family and friends remembered the two boys in an emotional candlelight vigil Monday night.
Kametra Sampson, the mother of the children, spoke tearfully about her unspeakable loss.
"He was my little teddy bear; I'm going to miss them," she said. "I know they can't get hurt no more. No more hurting where they at. And I know God is going to look after them."
After the vigil, Sampson placed a stuffed animal and a photograph of her sons on the ground, sobbing as she knelt in prayer.
She later thanked the small crowd for coming to share in her grief.
